My Choice, Tim Liu

I came to the U.S. for school in spring 1994. Upon arriving, I was not affiliated with any church organization. During both my junior and high school years I attended a denomination-affiliated school. Within my heart I disliked the denomination to the uttermost because of my rebellious nature as a teenager. In 1997, however, I joined the denomination through my friends and was baptized there in March 1998. In August the same year I contacted the local church and I knew that it would be a good choice to begin meeting there.

John 3:16 is a passage that attracts me very much. “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that every one who believes into Him would not perish, but would have eternal life.” What touches me so deeply in this verse it that who else in this world beside the Lord Jesus would love me so much?

As believers, we are all the children of God before the Lord and we are all the same. As believers of the Lord, if we take the church meetings as a formality, a routine, or come with other purposes, this is not well-pleasing to the Lord. The local church helps me to know Jesus Christ afresh. He is the High Priest who remains the same from beginning to end (Hebrews 7:3,17).
